kickit gets some healthy updates

Since the launch of kickit, I’ve received some great feedback. Financially incentivizing someone to kick the habit is a great motivational method. The other main reason to kick the habit is your health restoration. The longer you remain free from smoking, the greater you body’s health improves.

I wanted to try convey these health benefits to the users of kickit. However on the summary screen, I still wanted to keep it ‘s crispness. No matter how hard I tried, fitting another 2/3 lines of text in there wasn’t happening.

Using UILocalNotification’s

Within iOS 5 lives a beautiful new notification center. This is where my new health updates would live! It would give the user the random burst of enthusiasm to continue with the task of quitting forever.

After much coding around, I decided I would give daily health updates and one or two weekly ones too. The emphasis needs to be placed on the first couple of days of quitting smoking.

Here’s a look at how the updates look (keeping in mind I’ve made the alerts fire every minute for demonstration purposes):

When’s this going live?

I’ll be pushing this update into the AppStore hopefully today or tomorrow with some more bug fixes. Hoping to have it live within the next 2 weeks!

You can grab kickit now here, once the update is available it will be available to you in the AppStore!
